Saridon – Possible Side Effects (General Information)

Saridon is a combination pain-relief medicine (commonly contains paracetamol, propyphenazone, and caffeine) used for headaches and other mild to moderate pain. Like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some people.

Common or Mild Side Effects

These are usually short-term and mild, but if they persist or bother you, speak with a doctor.

  • Stomach discomfort, nausea, or vomiting
  • Heartburn or mild acidity
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Feeling restless or difficulty sleeping (often due to caffeine)
  • Mild headache or nervousness (paradoxical, sometimes from caffeine)

Less Common but More Serious Possible Side Effects

If any of the following occur, you should stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor urgently:

  • Severe stomach pain or vomiting with blood or black, tar-like stools (could suggest stomach bleeding)
  • Yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, very pale stools (possible liver damage)
  • Unusual tiredness, weakness, or loss of appetite
  • Severe or persistent headache, confusion, or vision changes
  • Reduced urine output, swelling of feet/ankles (possible kidney issues)

Allergic Reaction – Warning Signs

Any medicine can rarely cause an allergy. Seek emergency medical help if you notice:

  • Sudden rash, itching, or hives
  • Swelling of lips, tongue, face, or throat
  • Difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or wheezing
  • Severe dizziness or feeling faint

Who Should Be Extra Cautious

People with the following conditions need special medical supervision before using combination painkillers like Saridon:

  • Liver disease or regular alcohol use
  • Kidney problems
  • History of stomach ulcers or gastritis
  • Heart disease or high blood pressure
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Regular use of other painkillers, blood thinners, anti-epileptics, or TB medications

Safe-Use Reminders (General)

  • Do not exceed the recommended number of tablets in a day (follow the package or your doctor’s directions).
  • Avoid taking multiple medicines that also contain paracetamol at the same time (risk of liver damage).
  • Avoid frequent or long-term use without medical supervision.
  • If pain or headache is frequent or persistent, see a doctor instead of repeatedly taking Saridon.
